This is a gorgeous Bohemian Czech Austria glass vase. The maker is Loetz. The age is late 19th century to the early 20th century, circa 1890 to 1910. The white spots in the photos are light glares. The vase was difficult to photograph.

The vase is 11 ½” high and 7” wide. The handles are applied and covered in gold gilding.

The glass is the special type of glass produced by Loetz between 1880 and 1910, designed to emulate the look of polished marble glass. This category of Loetz glass is called Marmorierte, and this specific type of glass is most likely Onyx.

The vase has a bulbous belly, tapering down to a round foot. The neck is wide and flares out at the rim. The inside is lightly cased in white glass, and this dates the vase to 1890 to 1910, which is when Loetz cased the stone glass vases with a light white or pink glass.

The stone glass has beautiful swirls, designed to capture the beauty of natural stone. The colors in this vase are shades of green and brown. Some versions of Loetz onyx seen in the literature show more burgundy colors. The onyx with green is more rare.

The outside of the flared rim is criss-cross in gold enamel. Below the flared rim are typical Loetz enameled designs in raised pink, blue and green, with hand painted gold leaves, vines and dots. The same enamel design is repeated around the foot.

The pontil is round, concave and polished smooth. There is an additional little dent inside the pontil, also polished smooth.

The rim is flat and trimmed in gold, with some minor loss to the gold.

The gold on the handles have rubbing wear from age. There are a few air bubbles. There is a little bit of wear to the gold trim and enamel designs. There is a little bit of yellow color on the white casing inside the neck. There are no chips or cracks.
